Extension name: Teatime To-Go (“Extension”)
Provider: Teatime Teachers (“we”, “us”, “our”)
Website: https://www.teatimeteachers.com
Contact: [email protected]
This Privacy Policy explains how Teatime To-Go collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the Extension. This policy is intended to satisfy the Chrome Web Store privacy requirements and to clearly describe the Extension’s data practices.
1) Overview
Teatime To-Go helps users access Teatime Teachers tools in a Chrome Side Panel and optionally process and insert AI-generated output into webpages the user is viewing. Depending on your actions, the Extension may access:
- Authentication information (to connect to your Teatime Teachers account),
- Website content (text and documents on pages you choose to use with the Extension).
We do not sell personal data, and we do not intentionally collect browsing history as a product feature.
2) Information We Collect and Access
A) Authentication information
To connect you to your Teatime Teachers account, the Extension may access:
- Teatime Teachers login cookie(s) (e.g.,
wordpress_logged_in_*) onteatimeteachers.com/www.teatimeteachers.com. - A short-lived access token issued by Teatime Teachers after exchanging login cookie information.
- An encryption PIN (a user-provided or site-provided PIN used to secure or authorize requests).
We do not collect your password. The Extension does not ask you to enter your Teatime password into the Extension UI.
B) Website content
When you use the Extension’s features (for example, “include page contents”, selecting a target field for injection, or processing a document), the Extension may read or process:
- Text in editable fields or nearby content,
- Page context that you choose to include,
- Documents such as PDFs (including extracting text and, if enabled, images).
Important: Website content may include personal data depending on the site and what you provide (for example, student names typed into a form). The Extension processes only what is required to deliver the feature you initiated.
C) Technical / operational data
The Extension may generate minimal operational information in memory (e.g., request identifiers, timestamps for token refresh) to maintain functionality. This is not used for cross-site tracking.
3) How We Use Information
We use the information above only to provide Extension functionality, including:
- Authenticating you with Teatime Teachers and maintaining your session,
- Displaying Teatime tools in the side panel,
- Sending your request and optional selected/page content to Teatime Teachers services to generate results,
- Returning results to you and (only when you request it) injecting the result into a page element you selected,
- Processing documents (e.g., extracting PDF text) when you request those features,
- Preventing unsafe actions such as injecting into the wrong tab.
We do not use collected data for advertising, profiling, or sale.
4) Where Information Is Stored
A) Local storage in your browser
The Extension stores some data locally using Chrome’s extension storage:
- Authentication token (short-lived),
- User settings and preferences,
- Encryption PIN (if applicable).
The Extension may also store limited session data (e.g., document context for the current tab) to improve reliability with MV3 service worker suspension.
B) Transmission to Teatime Teachers services
When you submit a request, the Extension sends necessary data to Teatime Teachers services hosted at:
https://teatimeteachers.com/*https://www.teatimeteachers.com/*
If you use the Toddle document workflow, the Extension may access resources on:
https://cloud.toddleapp.com/*
5) Data Sharing
We share data only as needed to provide the service:
- Teatime Teachers (our service): Requests, authentication tokens, and user-provided/page-provided context required to generate results.
- No sale of data: We do not sell user data.
- No third-party advertising: We do not share data with third-party ad networks.
We may disclose information if required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security.
6) Data Retention
- Local extension storage: Tokens and settings may remain on your device until they expire or you clear them (e.g., by logging out or removing the Extension).
- Cookie-derived authentication: The Extension relies on your existing Teatime Teachers login state; if you log out of Teatime Teachers, token access may stop.
- Request content: Content you submit (and any page context you choose to include) may be transmitted to Teatime Teachers to provide results. Server-side retention, if any, is governed by Teatime Teachers policies and operational requirements.
Where possible, we aim to minimize retention and store only what’s required to operate the Extension.
7) Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, including:
- Using HTTPS/WSS for network connections,
- Using short-lived tokens where applicable,
- Limiting host permissions to only required domains.
No system can be guaranteed 100% secure; you use the Extension at your own discretion.
8) User Choices and Controls
You can control data collection and usage in several ways:
- Do not include page contents: If the Extension offers a toggle to include/exclude page context, disabling it reduces website content processing.
- Log out of Teatime Teachers: Logging out may stop cookie-based authentication.
- Clear extension data: You can remove stored tokens/settings by clearing site/extension data in Chrome.
- Uninstall the Extension: Removes locally stored Extension data from your browser.
If you want help removing stored Extension data, contact us at [Insert support email].
9) Permissions Explained (Plain Language)
The Extension uses Chrome permissions only to provide core functionality:
- cookies: Detect login state and authenticate with Teatime Teachers.
- storage: Save settings and short-lived tokens locally.
- tabs: Ensure actions happen in the correct tab and prevent injection into background tabs.
- webRequest: Detect Toddle PDF loads for document workflows (scoped to Toddle).
- offscreen: Perform PDF/document processing in an isolated offscreen document.
- sidePanel: Provide the side panel user interface.
- alarms: Refresh tokens reliably under MV3.
- downloads: Save user-requested generated/extracted files (if you use those features).
Host permissions are limited to Teatime Teachers domains and Toddle’s cloud domain as required for these features.
10) Remote Code Policy (Chrome Web Store)
The Extension does not load or execute remote JavaScript code. All executable code is packaged with the Extension. The Extension may communicate with Teatime Teachers servers to retrieve data and provide functionality, but it does not download external scripts to execute them as code.
11) Children’s Privacy
The Extension is intended for use by teachers and adult users. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children as a product feature. If you believe a child has provided personal data through use of the Extension, please contact us so we can address it appropriately.
12) Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the “Last updated” date above. Material changes will be posted on our website at the policy URL.
